Call for Abstracts

The Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) is requesting abstract submissions for presentation (April 19-21, 2024) at the SEA 2024 Spring Annual Meeting. The theme of the 2024 Spring Meeting is: "Science of Learning".

Abstract Submission Process

Abstracts submissions will be accepted in one of three categories:

The entire abstract is limited to 400 words. Abstracts pertaining to education are sought in areas such as (but are not limited to):

  • Medical Student education
  • Resident and Fellow education
  • Faculty and Clinician continuing education
  • Faculty evaluation, development
  • Technologic advancements
  • ACGME core competencies
  • ACGME Milestones

Deadlines

The Committee on Research in Education requests that abstracts be received by November 20, 2023 at 11:59pm (Eastern Time) so that constructive suggestions may be sent back to the abstract submitter. The Committee expects to notify authors of acceptance/denial in January 2024.

1-Minute Teaser

ALL selected-abstract authors should prepare to present a 1-minute teaser to attendees at the meeting encouraging them to visit your abstract presentation. Click here to view a sample of how you can present the 1-minute teaser.

Meeting Registration Fee

All abstract presenters are expected to pay the full SEA registration fee, according to their appropriate registration level (member, non-members, resident, etc.). No discounts will be provided.

Philip Liu Awards for Innovations in Anesthesia Education

Two “Philip Liu Awards for Innovations in Anesthesia Education” will be presented at the SEA Spring Meeting:

  • Philip Liu Award for Innovation in Anesthesia Education – Education Research
  • Philip Liu Award for Innovation in Anesthesia Education – Innovation in Curriculum

The author(s) of the top scoring abstract in each category submitted by a member of SEA or sponsored by a SEA member will be awarded a "Philip Liu Award for Innovations in Anesthesia Education” and will be provided with:

  • A $1,000 cash award
  • An opportunity to present their data in an oral presentation at the SEA Spring Meeting
  • Plaque/Trophy

SEAd Sprout Awards for Innovations in Anesthesia Education

Two “SEAd Sprout Awards for Trainee Abstracts in Anesthesia Education” will be presented to trainees or students presenting abstracts at the SEA Spring Meeting:

  • SEAd Sprout Award – The Best Trainee Abstract: Education Research
  • SEAd Sprout Award – The Best Trainee Abstract: Innovation in Curriculum

Abstracts eligible for these awards must:

The author of the top scoring abstract in each category will be provided with a $500 cash award.
