SEAd Sprout Awards – The Best Trainee Abstract

The inaugural SEAd Sprout Awards – The Best Trainee Abstract were presented in 2023 in Seattle, Washington. The awards were presented to the trainee author of the best abstracts in the Research and Innovative Curriculum categories.

Two “SEAd Sprout Awards" are presented annually at the SEA Spring Meeting:

  • SEAd Sprout Award – The Best Trainee Abstract: Education Research
  • SEAd Sprout Award – The Best Trainee Abstract: Innovation in Curriculum

The Society for Education in Anesthesia issues a call for abstracts each year for its Spring Meeting. Abstracts will be submitted for review in one of two categories: Anesthesia education research or anesthesia curriculum. Members of the SEA Research Committee will grade the abstracts and develop the grading criteria.

Eligibility:

  • The abstracts first authored by a trainee (fellows, residents, medical students, or undergraduate students) and presented by the trainee at the SEA Spring Meeting.
  • At the time of abstract submission, the trainee should indicate their trainee status along with the letter of support by the faculty mentor.
  • The faculty mentor letter should testify the trainee's contribution of the abstract as the first author: a) substantial contributions to study conception and design, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data, b) drafting the abstract or revising it critically for important intellectual content, and c) final approval of the version to be submitted (https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/roles-and-responsibilities/defining-the-role-of-authors-and-contributors.html).
