Innovative Ideas

The Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) is requesting abstract submissions for the Innovative Ideas category for the SEA 2023 Spring Meeting (April 14-16).

The Innovative Ideas category is available for educational projects that are in their developmental stages and have yet to be completed. Innovative Idea abstracts will not be eligible for oral or poster presentation at this conference. Selected abstracts will be recommended for presentation in the Idea Lab Workshop at the meeting. During the workshop, the selected authors will present their abstracts to a group of facilitators who will discuss the ideas and share feedback toward development of innovative curricula and research studies. We envision that the perspectives gained in this session will culminate in the production of scholarly work that will be shared through publication, presentation, and other forms of academic dissemination.

Your abstract should include the following:

  • Purpose: Describe the need your proposed intervention serves or problem it addresses. Describe how you have identified this need or problem.
  • Goals and Objectives: Who are the stakeholders targeted by this educational intervention? What are the intended outcomes of this curriculum?
  • Educational Plan: What instructional methods will be employed? What assessment methods will be used?
  • Reflection: What resources will be required? From whom will you need to seek support? What challenges or barriers do you anticipate?

The entire abstract is limited to 400 words.

Abstracts pertaining to education are sought in areas such as (but are not limited to):

  • Medical Student education
  • Resident and Fellow education
  • Faculty and Clinician continuing education
  • Faculty evaluation, development
  • Technologic advancements
  • ACGME core competencies
  • ACGME Milestones

The Committee on Research in Education requests that abstracts be received by November 21, 2022 at 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) so that constructive suggestions may be sent back to the abstract submitter. The Committee expects to notify authors of acceptance/denial in January 2023.
