Anesthesia Education – SEA Newsletter

Anti Racist Asian American Statement

As an organization focused on supporting, enriching, and advancing education, the Society for Education in Anesthesia speaks loudly and forcefully against the recent increased hostility towards Asian Americans. Physical assault, verbal harassment, workplace discrimination, and the recent killing of six women of Asian descent at three spas in Atlanta is a reprehensible example of hate directed toward one of many ethnic groups in the US. Our thoughts are with Asian Americans and their families as well as all other victims of discrimination. These events are sad reminders of the ingrained racism in our world. Systemic racism is harmful to everyone. As physicians, educators, and scientists, we pledge to continue efforts towards eliminating systemic racism in medicine and our world  to ensure best outcomes for our patients and success for our healthcare workforce.
