We would like to cordially invite you to the SEA 34th Spring Meeting, which will be held at the Hilton Denver City Center, Denver CO, April 26-28, 2019. This year’s theme is “Integration and Diversity: Creating Diverse Teams, Building Exceptional Leaders.” The meeting will celebrate the diversity in anesthesiology teams, and share supports for further integration, especially in leadership roles.
We look forward to a keynote address by Renee Navarro, Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Outreach for the University of California San Francisco, and one of the few anesthesiologists serving in such a role. She will share with us the current and potential future state of anesthesiology as we continue to build diverse teams. We further welcome nationally known speakers on the topics of student and resident admissions and education, integrating advanced practice providers, and assisting and welcoming members of the LGBTQ community. We are exceptionally pleased to welcome three women anesthesiology departmental chairs to share their thoughts on women’s leadership in anesthesiology.
We plan a practical approach to this topic – tips to avoid unconscious bias in admissions and daily practice, and how to understand and embrace unfamiliar pronouns!
NEW THIS YEAR – Join us on Sunday morning for a “Best of the Year” session! Collaboratively generate a take home list of the best education Readings, Podcasts and Resources from 2018.
The Mile-High City has plenty to offer SEA members! Denver ranked 4th in the Zagat ratings of “30 Most Exciting Food Cities in America 2017,” and SEA welcomes you to this exceptional food scene for SEA’s dine-around event.
Want to get outdoors either before or after the meeting? Denver boasts 85 miles of bike paths, kayak chutes just minutes from downtown, and a five-kilometer hiking trail in Denver City Park – with 300 days of sunshine per year to enjoy it all in!
We are confident that you will find this meeting to be informative, meaningful, and entertaining. It is certainly a weekend to have fun with your family while sharing your passion as educators and networking with nationally and internationally renowned expert educators. We look forward to seeing you in the Mile-High City!
