Goals and Objectives
- Develop action plan assuring at least one SEA member in each
anesthesia residency program.
- Assure at least bi-annual communication with SEA member rep at
each training program.
- Receive,consider, approve/disapprove all membership
applications.
- Track and analyze membership trends.
- Aggressively retain present and re-recruit past members.
- Report to BOD semiannually.
- Develop an action plan to generate an international membership
of 50-100 members.
Work in Progress
- An excel formatted list was generated for all Directors of
residency education in the U.S. and Puerto Rico with e-mail
addresses. This was generated by personal phone calls to each
program as much of the information from ACGME was inaccurate.
- Test e-mails are being sent to each individual confirming
accuracy of e-mail address, SEA membership and confirming
whether they were indeed the actual director of residency
education, and, if not, who that individual would be. Results
are pending.
- Those directors who are not willing to become members will be
asked to name a designee in his/her department who is a member
and who might serve as a contact.
- Once an accurate list is confirmed, periodic e-mail
communication (annual or even semi-annual) will be conducted
with an individual in each program.
UPDATE - 4/15/2002
- An excel formatted list of all Directors of Residency
Education in the United States and Puerto Rico has been
generated. This list is alphabetized by state and then
Anesthesiology residency program within a state. It contains the
name and address of the residency program and e-mail address and
membership status of the residency director.
- Ongoing work consists of perfecting the list and encouraging
non-member directors to join the Society, renew membership in
the Society or designate a faculty member in their program to
join the Society. Thus each program would have at least one
contact member in SEA.
- Additional efforts are aimed at developing an e-mail list for
all international members in order to facilitate communication
and thus help maintain our international membership.
In addition we are attempting to increase international
membership by having a lower subscription rate of $30.00 per year
(with similar benefits) and by having local recruiters enhancing
awareness of our society. Currently these are Brendan Flanagan, MD
(in Australia), Frances Forrest, MD and Mark Tooley, CEng, FIPEM (in
the United Kingdom) and Alexander L. Garden, MB, ChB (in New
Zealand).
